The New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth) is a private, statewide foundation dedicated to improving the health of all New Yorkers. To achieve meaningful impact, the foundation makes grants, informs health care policy and practice, and spreads effective programs that work to improve New York's health system.Today, NYSHealth focuses most of its activities and grantmaking in two strategic priority areas: (1) building healthy communities and (2) empowering health care consumers. The foundation also focuses on the health and wellbeing of returning veterans and their families and manages a Special Projects Fund to support projects consistent with NYSHealth's mission but outside of its priority areas. .
